Helene “Dusty” Rogstad, 93, from Stanley died on Monday June 18,2012 in a Stanley Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday June 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Stanley. Visitation is Thursday from 10 to 5 at the Springan Funeral Home in Stanley. Burial is in the Knife River Lutheran cemetery. Dusty was born August 30, 1918 to Kristina and Karl Rud in Chicago, Il. She was raised in Chicago and attended school there. She worked for 9 years as a bookkeeper for the Great American Insurance Co. in Chicago.
On September 29, 1945 Dusty married Carl Rogstad. They made their home on Carl’s family farm, south of Stanley.
Dusty worked for over 18 years for Mountrail County in the Auditors office as the Deputy Auditor. She also worked there as Bailiff for the Court System until the age of 91.
Dusty loved children. In addition to their own family they also were foster parents to many children. Some stayed quite awhile, some stayed over night, but all received the tender-loving care that only Dusty could give.
Dusty loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and most recently her first great–great grandchild. She loved baking and sharing her famous brownies. She made many afghans which she enjoyed giving away to family and friends. Another of Dusty’s passions was playing the piano which she shared at many different events.
Dusty is survived by her daughters Dinah(Jim) Footh of rural Stanley, Shirley (Boyd) Anderson of Minot and Jeanine Plentychief of New Town and her son Don (Ronda) Anderson of Dickinson. Grand children Neil (Debbie) Footh, Laura (Ron) Paetz, Angela Anderson, Parker Anderson, Chris Anderson, Nikki Anderson and Brock Anderson. Great grandchildren Casey and Jessica Footh, Nicole, Ryan, and Ethan Paetz. Bella Anderson and a great- great granddaughter Kaylee Wilson; Brother Don (Joan) Rud of Elgin Ill.
