Darlyne Sem, 80, Powers Lake, ND, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Trinity Nursing Home in Minot, ND. Her funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 14 at 11 A.M. at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Powers Lake. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church followed by a family service at 7 at the church.
Darlyne(Enget)Sem was born, June 6, 1932, to Bennie O. and Selma M.(Sampson) Enget in Powers Lake, ND. She attended school at Powers Lake.
On October 25, 1951, Darlyne married Phalen Sem at Bethel Baptist Church in Powers Lake in a double-wedding ceremony with the bride's sister, Dagney, and the groom's brother, Harlis.
Darlyne and Phalen had 4 children whom they raised in Powers Lake. Phalen worked as a mechanic and Darlyne worked off and on as a nurse’s aide at Powers Lake Hospital, a job that she loved, with people and patients that she loved. She came home with many stories, mostly funny, about her work. Mostly she was a stay-at-home Mom and loved to have "coffee" with her sisters, family and friends, while simultaneously raising their children. Darlyne worked for the Senior Citizen's Center in Powers Lake until her health began to decline.
Darlyne served her church and her God well as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Women’s Circle. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary.
Darlyne is survived by her children: Clayton (Stephanie) of Kalispell, MT; Kristy (Bill) Anderson of Watford City, ND; Merlyn (Jane) of Powers Lake, ND, and Bonnie (Paul) Lucy) of Minot, ND; grandchildren: Chad (Katie) Sem, Cory Sem, Nikki Anderson, Jarod (Liz Tuohy) Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Susan (Brandon)Erickson, Nathan Sem, Zachary (Megen) Lucy, Jordan Lucy and fiance Lauren Marie Derbyshire-Smith, and Alexander Lucy and friend, Emilie Halvorson; 7 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Parker, Gavyn, Espyn, Sienna, Tarq and Rossen; brother Dale (Jan) Enget of Powers Lake, ND; several beloved nieces and nephews;and her and Phalen's beloved dog, Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Phalen; sisters Fern, Marjorie, Dagney; brothers Obert and Herman.
Darlyne will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and love of music and song.
