Arlies Rose

Arlles Rose, daughter of Albert and Hilda Young, was born on March 12th, 1924. She grew up and attended school in the Foothills Township north of Powers Lake.

On November 17th, 1945 she was married to John Rose of Lignite. They made their home north of Flaxton, where they farmed and raised their two daughters JoAnn and Sandra. Her husband John passed away in March of 1978. Arlles remained on the farm until 1980, and then moved into Flaxton. She spent many winters in Quartzsite, AZ. In 2004 she moved to Minot.

In her late teens she moved to California to work for Lockheed Martin during WW II, and returned to ND due to an illness in the family. After getting married she worked on the family farm and raised her two daughters. In addition to her two daughters she also helped raise several other children in the area.

Arlles lived life with a lot of spirit and loved singing and dancing. In fact you could often find her dancing with the girls in the kitchen when a good song came on the radio. She was active in the community often cooking and sewing dresses for others. She even did some reupholstery work for neighbors. She loved to have fun and would attend local dances, go bowling and playing softball, basketball, and playing cards. She was also an avid MN Twins fan.

Arlles was preceded death by her parents, her husband John, 4 brothers (Julian, Vergil, Darrell & Marvin), and a granddaughter.

She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn of Minot, and Sandra of Marshall, MO; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

Arlles passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Minot at the age of 88.

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday January 26, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Springan Funeral Home in Stanley. Visitation is Friday from 10 to 5 at the funeral home and Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in the spring in the Flaxton Cemetery.
